Coldplay in Nice : Viva La Vida !

Hey guys ! I know you’re waiting for this review for a long time now, but I had a problem with my laptop. Anyway, now it’s done, so here’s my review ! 

I arrived in Nice the day before the show. I took the plane alone from Toulouse to Nice, which lasts 55 minutes. I was the last one to get out of the plane (because of my leg) & my friend Sandrine was waiting for me with a little paper with written on it “Mrs. Berryman”. This is how to begin an awesome trip ! We had a nice evening with our another friend Marco, we laughed a lot :) 

I only slept two hours, I was so excited ! I patiently waited for til Sandrine woke up, at 6am. She also had a bad night.. We had an amazing view from the hotel on the sea, the airport & the sunset. We left at 7:15 am to pick up Marco. We arrived in front of the stadium at 8am. There were approximatively 30 people who were already waiting, and they were almost all Italian. 

And the queue began. We had to wait behind fences til 12, then they’d open & divide us in two queues, & after we’d enter into the stadium. As you see, it was very badly organizated, because all the standing tickets (golden & basic) were put together in two entrances, and it makes a lot of people ! So, as soon as they opened the first fences, what had to happen actually happened… Everybody ran. & As you can imagine, me with my broken leg & my crutches, I wasn’t just able to do it too… But the worst part is that all these people were really violent. They were running as fast as they could just next to me, & a girl even pushed me in a very aggressive way. I lost my friends, I was alone, very scared as you can imagine & totally confused because I wasn’t expecting this violence. 
So I called a security guy, explained my situation & he was very nice with me. He asked people to let me go through then I could be with Sandrine, as Marco ran like crazy to be in front. People didn’t agree, were moaning but what the hell, I was there before them ! What if I had fallen ?! I would have finish my day in the hospital ! So I joined Sandrine & we began to rant against Italians. 

To make the things clear immediately, I don’t really have something against Italian people. I know some here & they are the cutest ! But the ones who were with us were so many & so disrespectful that it was truly incredible. We felt like we were in Italia, really ! They were speaking very loud, had no respect for us - an exemple : they saw I had crutches, they were all sitting & I had no place to sit, but no one told me ‘ok take my place you need it more than me’. NO ONE ! I spent 2 hours & a half standing, & I almost fainted cause I was really suffering.. One girl even began to sit, & as she had not enough place, she put her knee on Sandrine’s shoulder… We all know this kind of movement hurts ! But when Sandrine took her shoulder off, the girl began to rant ! It was in-cre-di-ble. 

Anyway, we charged Marco to reserve our places on the front row. We entered in the stadium, Sandrine ran, I tried to follow her (haha) & when I arrived I saw Marco on one side & Sandrine on another one (in front of Guy like we wanted !). & I was like “Where do I have to go ?” xD So I joined Sandrine. We had again a few hours to wait, sun was finally there so we faced it with sunglasses, like stars xD We were kinda proud ! Story will tell later that I had a sunburn all over my face with sunglasses trace… No laugh please ! xD

The first support began with Rita Ora. The good surprise of the day actually ! It was very punchy & I loved it. Then Marina & The Diamonds came, at first I had the feeling to be in a post-school show, it was all sober & childish ! Then it was a little bit more.. Punchy xD (yes I like this word !) But if I had to resume, I’d say I liked both, & it was a great introduction to Coldplay, even if I’d have put Marina first & Rita Ora then. 

As soon as Marina finished, it was time to put in place our Groupie Project ! We were so excited about it ! But, what is the Groupie Project ?
Everything began with Sandrine. We were talking on Facebook, & she had a revelation : sexy (b)ass… & She said “We had to make a banner with this, it’s so good !” I totally agreed ! The problem was she’s living like 400 km away from me (we met in Coldplay’s last show in Paris) so this banner is her baby.. I can’t say it’s mine too cause I was totally unable to help her. The only thing I did was to help her to hang it on the fence xD The final text was “Guy your (b)ass is so sexy !” & It was truly wonderful ! 

The Roadies were installing the scene, some of them I think read our banner.. 
Roadie 42 came to take his panorama shoot, but I was sitting when he did it.. & Then we heard the beginning of “99 Problems”.. & We all know what it means !! Coldplay will be the next !

Lights off… Back To The Future music… Tears… 

& That’s it, Jonny, Chris, Will & Guy are here ! What an amazing feeling… I know nothing better ! Adrenaline begins its job ;) 

Mylo Xyloto, Hurts Like Heaven.. We finally see Chris clearly ! Our old Xylobands from December shows don’t work :( Guys are in great shape, they give everything as always ! To see all these 45.000 Xylobands lit is just beautiful. That’s the moment when you realize you’re not alone.. & Then lasers appear. They’re beautiful, pink, yellow, blue, & that’s amazing cause you don’t expect it ! 

In My Place. First we’re a bit confused cause we were expecting Yellow ! But we don’t really have time to think about it.. Because Guy is on his way on our side ! I’m really anxious about his reaction for the banner so I don’t look at him xD My friend shouts when he’s here, & she told me he looked at it, smiled but in an embarrassed way ! He was a bit uncomfortable with it first the cutie awww fgdsjfqsmklg then he went til the end of the scene, came back on the middle. It will be the one & only time he will move from this place, so I think we can say it was to see our banner ! ;D
Confettis arrive, we face the blower so we’re at the best place ! & We discover there are new forms, including butterflies :D & even new papers, metallic like the Viva confettis ! 

Major Minus. Hypnotised by Guy. I’m sorry but his movements on this song bring me non-catholic thoughts… & Jonny’s solo is just amazing. 

Lovers In Japan. Confettis once again ! I’m so so happy to hear this song live ! I love it :) & That’s when they let the balloons out.

The Scientist. This song is always so intimist. Chris alone on piano, then Guy arrives in the light, then Jonny & Will… In the end, audience sings along… 

Yellow. FINALLY ! I almost believed they forgot it ! Chris begins it acoustic, & I really had the feeling he was playing it only for me. It was Chris & me, nothing else. Magical. Then it goes normal version.

Violet Hill. I love this song live ! I’m singing it, marking the tempo with my head.. WAS A LONG & DARK DECEMBER *talalala* (the *talalala* stands for Jonny’s notes.)

Princess Of China. Hell no… That was the song I was the most anxious to hear. They go on the X stage & I have no other choice to watch on the screens. Rihanna appears, but her images were all blurry HEHEHEHEHE *diabolic laugh* I was so happy ! This kinda made my day (for the moment) but I have to admit the introduction by Jonny and not the electronic one, & to see Chris so happy to sing it made this song not so awful, after all. 

Up In Flames. Technical problem with Will accessory, but it doesn’t last too long ! Chris tries to speak French, but he gives up xD This song is not my favourite, & even in live it doesn’t take me somewhere. 

Warning Sign. Yessssssssss omg omg omg I’m so so happy to hear it live ! It’s amazing ! Unfortunately I have to watch it on screens but it was so good !

Don’t Let It Break Your Heart. Yayyy two songs I really looked forward to hear live ! I love it even more, definitely ! It is incredible & a bit unexpected just after Warning Sign, but the surprises are the best part in a show ! :) 

Viva La Vida. Or THE song of the day. It begins with the wooohooohooooo as always, Will begins to play the bell & the big drum, here we go ! For me it really is one of the best moments during the show, because the whole audience is together. But I didn’t know it was on the point to become one of the best moments of my whole life… On this song, Chris always moves from one side to the other.. 
He arrives in front of us, looks at the banner, passes his hand in his hair & points at me ! I look at my friend & I’m like “Sandrine am I dreaming ? He just pointed at me right ?” I couldn’t realize ! He keeps singing at the end of the right side, then comes back on the middle scene, stands next to Guy, puts his hand on Guy’s shoulder, looks at us & then points at me once again !!!! And GUY SMILES BY LOOKING AT ME !!!!!!!! *excuse me while I die*

With Sandrine we were totally hysteric & we just couldn’t believe it !

Charlie Brown & Paradise come. For me & a lot of people too I think, Paradise is like Viva, it’s like the Mylo Xyloto hymn. With Sandrine we make our Paradise dance, in my head I’m like “If Guy looks at me now I’m totally ridiculous” but I just don’t care, we have fun & that’s all what matters ! 

They leave, but we know they’ll be back soon ! & They’re back on the C stage, hidden in the middle of the crowd.

Chris begins to talk, announces Us Against The World, & dedicates it to Gwyneth. I find it so sweet & romantic, Gwyneth is so lucky ! & As the Festival de Cannes was in the same time, we wonder now if she isn’t there..? We’ll never know !

Speed Of Sound. Acoustic, of course. I can’t do anything else but watching the screens. I love X&Y songs, & I find Speed Of Sound even more perfect live. & More when Xylobands come on… It is, one more time, a magical moment. 

Clocks. We know we come to the end. I love this song, & I don’t have a lot of battery or memory on my camera… So I look at Guy (perfect bass line is perfect) & I thought of you girls because of Chris’ mega chair humping !! I enjoyed it a lot ! ;D 

Between Clocks & Fix You, Guy literally stares at me… We look into each other’s eyes like what appears to me a very long moment… It’s just him & me for an instant. I swear I’m not lying. Sandrine even tells me “Shake your hand to say hi !” (I’m really not sure about this sentence, but it’s a French expression which doesn’t exist in English !) I’m dead. I began to liquefy during Viva, but now I’m in a bottle.

Fix You. Always amazing. No words.

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall. The end. Nooooo ! But we enjoy til the very end. We both love this song live, so we sing loud, we communicate xD We’re crazy ! Xylobands are on for the last time tonight. 

They come to salute us, Guy comes by our side, looks at us with a smile one last time… They applause us, we applause them, it’s all about love, like always. I love them with all my heart, & I also want Guy to kiss me. I will never thank them enough for everything they bring me. 
Even if since this day my leg hurts me again xD I forgive them !
